Through the Purpose Futures Fellowship, Tomás E. Durán is incubating Concerned Capital’s Blue Collar Preservation Fund. Concerned Capital seeks to create a platform for transitioning businesses into employee ownership at scale in blue collar communities in California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Its investments will foster inclusive and restorative economic development in historically underserved and underinvested communities through a two-step process of transition ownership to one or more workers.

Tomás E. Durán is a husband, father, and economic developer. For the past 20 years he has worked in Southern California to create opportunities and space for people from low-income communities to grow wealth for themselves and their families. In September 2020 Tomás joined Community Health Councils, Inc’s (CHC) management team as their Senior Vice President for Economic Resilience. In addition to his work at CHC, Tomás is a partner at Concerned Capital, a social benefit corporation dedicated to helping private companies create and save jobs in Southern California. As a boutique economic development firm, Tomas and his team save and grow jobs using government incentives and financing programs. Tomás is also a 2018 ASPEN Institute Job Quality Fellow, a 2016 Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) fellow and currently serves as a Social Entrepreneur in Residence for Common Future.
